Yoga And Mindfulness Instructor

Dr. Cynthia Chasteen

Cynthia earned her PhD in Teaching and Learning Processes with an emphasis in TESOL at UMSL. She acts as an Instructional Specialist for Missouri’s Migrant Education and English Language Learning (MELL) program and is an adjunct professor in the college of education at both Mizzou and UMSL. A former competitive strength athlete and high school and college soccer player, she has practiced yoga and mindfulness for seven years. She earned a 200-hour yoga certification from Yoga Alliance in 2013 and has completed numerous other yoga certifications including trauma informed yoga, prenatal yoga and kid’s yoga. Cynthia also worked with Mindful Schools and completed three trainings, including a year-long certification program. She currently teaches yoga at Sumits Hot Yoga in Columbia and serves as an apprentice to become a trainer for Yogiños Yoga for Youth, which is a trilingual (Spanish/English/Sanskrit) organization that provides yoga for kids from early childhood through high school. Yoga has had a profound impact on all aspects of her life and Cynthia is eager to share the practice with student athletes to complement their hard work on and off the field.
